Fernando's pick design of the month: False Bay Residence, San Juan Islands, WA.

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

We enjoy taking a look at other locations where nice projects are being developed. Like this False Bay Residence, a design by Kristen Murray in San Juan Islands, WA. The project was mentored by Tom Kundig. A 15' tall door opens to dramatic double high ceilings. A very aesthetic system of rolling shutters protects the house and allow large floor to ceiling windows to display the view, regulating sunlight. Observe the overhangs on the  roof providing passive energy protection. May be also used to collect rainwater. We should be seen more of these projects in SW Florida
soon. Maybe a wraparound screen would make it even more "Florida-friendly". A real jewel in a very possible space. Inside, watch the convertable spaces on the top floor with hanging wall panels. Awesome. See more clicking here. Photo courtesy: Tim Bies - Benjamin Benschneider.
